The three watercolor works, “In the Beginning”, “Peace Baby”, and “Holy Fish”, were created as a triptych. They will not be sold separately and are designed be hung together. The three works illustrate Man’s evolution from the simplicity of form, the elemental, the atomic and biologic represented in the first piece, “In the Beginning”. The second work, “Peace Baby”, embodies those elements in Man’s struggle between his mastery of science and mathematics conflicted against his use of this knowledge to build weapons and wage war. His recognition of Peace is a component of his evolution. The final work, “Holy Fish”, signifies the relationship of technology and one’s need to seek a higher power for that wisdom. Technologies come and go, but the evolutionary cycles dictate that Mankind must also evolve. It brings the triptych full circle and gives hope that man can conquer himself and brings optimism that humankind will not destroy him in the process. - Bartké
